Florida Auto Insurance Minimums
- Personal Injury Protection (PIP). PIP is also known as Florida No Fault Insurance and provides coverage for you in an accident, even if you are at fault, up to the limits of your policy. Your PIP will also cover your children and other members of your household, and other passengers who don’t own a vehicle and also lack PIP Insurance. People who carry their own PIP receive coverage under their own policy for injuries. This also pertains to some licensed drivers when driving your vehicle with your permission. Many do not know that PIP also covers your child when they suffer an injury while riding on a school bus. You are also protected by PIP insurance while riding a bycicle, as a pedestrian or in someone else’s vehicle.
- Property Damage Liability (PDL). When you or other members of your family cause damage to other vehicles or other property due to a crash involving a motor vehicle, this coverage pays for repairs and/or replacements.
Florida Auto Insurance Recommendations
- Uninsured Motorist Insurance. This insurance protects you when you are hurt in an accident caused by a driver who does not have insurance.
- Bodily injury liability. If you cause an accident that results with the injury of another person(s), this coverage will protect you from medical and hospital costs. It will also protect your finances and assets from a lawsuit that is brought to you.
- Collision. Usually required when your vehicle is under finance, this coverage covers the cost to repair damage that is caused to your car from a collision with another vehicle.
- Comprehensive. In most cases, this coverage is also required when financing a vehicle and covers the cost to repair damage to your vehicle when caused by something other than another vehicle such as vandalism, hail, tree limbs, etc.
