The driving habits of Georgians vary as much as the topography.  From Dalton in the north Georgia mountains to Savannah on the coast, the commute to work can be a pleasant drive through rolling hills or a dangerous merge at Spaghetti Junction in Atlanta.  We can help you protect you and your car no matter where the roads in Georgia take you.

In Georgia, auto liability insurance is required on all vehicles if the vehicle is registered and driven.  The penalties are stiff if coverage is not maintained and may include impoundment if your vehicle is involved in an accident.  Georgia is known for its commitment to the safety of its residents and visitors by instituting several programs that ensure its drivers are educated and responsible behind the wheel.  One program designed to reduce the number of fatal accidents by teen drivers called TADRA or Teenage and Adult Driver Responsibility Act, provides a complete driver’s license program for young drivers ages 15 to 18 and carries a provision for adult drivers as well. It involves a tiered approach to obtaining a Georgia driver’s license based on instruction, demonstration of skills while accompanied by an adult, and maintaining a proven record of safe driving before teens can obtain their class D Georgia driver’s license.

Georgia Auto Insurance Requirements

Liability auto insurance is required in Georgia and must include at a minimum:

  • $25,000 per person for bodily injury to one other person
  • $50,000 per accident for bodily injury to two or more people
  • $25,000 per accident for property damage to others

This type of insurance offers no payment for damage to your vehicle or injury to you when involved in an accident where you are at fault or are involved in a hit-and-run.

Georgia Auto Insurance Recommendations

  • Uninsured Motorist Insurance.  This is the only type of insurance that protects you when you are injured in a motor vehicle accident caused by an uninsured driver.  This covers the cost of medical bills, unpaid wages and other costs associated with your recovery after an accident with an uninsured motorist.
  • Collision Insurance. This type of auto insurance is used to cover the cost of repair or replacement when your vehicle is involved in an accident.  Collision Insurance is usually required by finance companies when a loan exists on the vehicle.
  • Comprehensive Insurance.  This type of auto insurance covers damage to your vehicle from vandalism, storm damage such as hail or other damage by something other than another vehicle.  This type of insurance is usually required when the vehicle is under finance.
